Job Summary of Distribution Center Manager:

As a Distribution Center Manager, the primary responsibility is to supervise the day-to-day operations of a warehouse or storage facility, ensuring timely processing of incoming and outgoing inventory. This includes assigning schedules to Warehouse Associates, conducting training for new employees on equipment usage, and monitoring safety compliance. The role is centered on effective organization and coordination to enhance the warehouse's storage and distribution procedures.

Responsibilities of Distribution Center Manager:

• Monitoring inventory while making recommendations on which items to order and restock
• Managing warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment
• Establishing warehouse practices and protocols
• Setting warehouse and team goals
• Monitoring workplace performance and help train employees
• Communicating with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner

Qualifications of Distribution Center Manager:

• Strong leadership skills, including the abilities to set goals, motivate and manage
• Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
• Good project management skills, including strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional time management and organization skills
• Familiarity with inventory control practices
• Comfortable using organizational computer applications
• Physical strength and the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time

Education and Training of Distribution Center Manager:

• Aspiring Distribution Center Manager candidates are required to have attained a high school diploma or GED at a minimum.
• Certain job seekers could have undergone on-the-job training related to warehouse organization and management duties in a prior job role.
• An associate degree in fields such as business operations, supply chain management, procurement, or a similar discipline can offer advantages, although it is not a prerequisite.
